Cooking The Taliban!

A new “nonlethal” weapon that uses microwave energy to create intense pain has been deployed in Afghanistan. The Active Denial System, which burns the top layer of skin via microwaves, is in Afghanistan for testing. The weapon is designed to shoot an invisible beam of energy at people, creating an intense burning sensation that forces them to flee. The Air Force has called it the “goodbye effect.” It has not been used before in military operations.

In 2008, the Pentagon considered deploying the Active Denial System in Iraq, but stopped due to publicity concerns. The technology used in the Active Denial System, which was developed by the Air Force Research Laboratory at Kirtland Air Force Base, N.M., has been adapted to several different configurations. The version pictured is a Block 2, a more advanced version that is mounted on a military vehicle. The lab is also looking at a mounting it on an aircraft.

So, when the word gets out that we’re “cooking” Taliban troops, how long before Obama bows to the world and cancels it?

What do you suppose the meaning of this ad is?

This ad ran in the Arizona Republic. Doesn’t seem too welcoming, does it?

In the “comments” section there is a 1-800 phone number from someone at the Mexican tourism board.  If you call that number, they will tell you it’s a “mistake”.  Somehow, I just don’t believe that.  I’ll let you be the judge.

Bow Early, Bow Often...Our President

The Associated Press is reporting that the United States and China have not reached a major breakthrough Friday after only their second round of talks about human rights since 2002. President Obama is pushing China to treat its citizens better.  However, they can’t push too hard because they need Chinese support on Iranian and North Korean nuclear standoffs, climate change and other initiatives the administration can’t carry out on its own.

So, ask yourself what our President is willing to do to smooth relations between China and the United States and your most likely answer is….roll over and give them what they want.  Assistant Secretary of State Michael Posner has been holding these talks with China, further eroding any confidence I have that the United States will come out with our dignity intact.

What’s disturbing is that Posner has decided to use the Arizona immigration law as a pawn to appease the Chinese.  Below is a transcript of questions between and AP reporter and Posner.  It’s embarrassing to see his responses. Take a look:

QUESTION: Was there any areas in which China sort of turned the tables and raised its own complaints or concerns about U.S. practices around the globe or at home?

ASSISTANT SECRETARY POSNER: Sure. You know, I think — again, this goes back to Ambassador Huntsman’s comment. Part of a mature relationship is that you have an open discussion where you not only raise the other guy’s problems, but you raise your own, and you have a discussion about it. We did plenty of that. We had experts from the U.S. side, for example, yesterday, talking about treatment of Muslim Americans in an immigration context. We had a discussion of racial discrimination. We had a back-and-forth about how each of our societies are dealing with those sorts of questions. . . .

QUESTION: Did the recently passed Arizona immigration law come up? And, if so, did they bring it up or did you bring it up?
ASSISTANT SECRETARY POSNER: We brought it up early and often. It was mentioned in the first session, and as a troubling trend in our society and an indication that we have to deal with issues of discrimination or potential discrimination, and that these are issues very much being debated in our own society.

Posner and his team brought it up, “often and early”.  So, while the state of Arizona continues to have problems with rapes, kidnappings, drug smuggling, and all other assorted crimes committed by illegal Mexican immigrants, the very same President who refuses to secure our borders and stop the problem has now sent his diplomat to China to apologize for a law that hopes to prevent these crimes?
I am angry, but I shouldn’t be surprised. This President is the same one who bows to world leaders, including China. This is the same President that shows more respect for other world dignitaries than he does for our men and women in uniform. This is the same president that continues to look more and more like Jimmy Carter every day.
God help us all.

The Dalai Lama Arrives In Washington

I know you’re probably wondering how I came up with a title like that.  I was sitting around wondering why the Obama administration would damage political relations with China by inviting the Dalai Lama to the Whitehouse.  I figured there had to be a good reason, so I started thinking about comparisons to other world leaders and the impact they have on their respective followings. I ended up tying the Dalai Lama to NRA Executive Vice President Wayne LaPierre.  Stop shaking your head and keep reading!

In 1959 the Dalai Lama led a revolt against the Chinese government in an effort to obtain autonomy in the region known as Tibet. The Dalai Lama, the spiritual leader of the Tibetan peoples, miscalculated the response by the Chinese government and picked a fight he couldn’t win.  He fled the country into exile and has been in exile ever since.  The population at the time of the uprising was estimated to be little over a million people.  Today, there are about 2.5 million people in the Tibetan region.  Yes, I said region, because it’s not “Tibet”, it’s China.

So here we are some 50 years later, and we are inviting an exiled leader of a failed coup d’état to meet our President in the Whitehouse. The country that was the target of this failed attempt is a bit upset with us for embracing this guy. They see the Dalai Lama as an enemy of the state, someone who threatens peace in the Chinese homeland. It’s easy to understand why.

Let’s assume for a minute that Mr. LaPierre wanted to lead his membership in an uprising to declare autonomy in one of our states…let’s say Alabama.  So, all 4.3 million members of the NRA move to Alabama and declare it a sovereign territory. I’m pretty sure that the government would not tolerate this and would move to stop it. So, let’s assume that Mr. LaPierre fled the country to avoid prosecution. Let’s think about this….he leads a violent uprising, it’s forcefully stopped by the military, and he flees the United States to avoid prosecution.

Now, imagine that Russia or China not only refuse to send Mr. LaPierre back to the United States to be prosecuted for his crimes, but they go as far as to offer an invitation to be received in a formal setting with the leaders of those countries and be treated as a dignitary. How would you, as an American, feel about those countries coddling one of our sought-after criminals? You, I, everyone, would be angry. So goes China’s anger.

So I bet your thinking, why did I choose Mr. LaPierre for this comparison? Because President Obama hasn’t invited Mr. LaPierre, the leader of 4.3 million advocates of the Bill of Rights, to the Whitehouse for an official reception….but he has invited an exiled revolutionary from a communist country.

Why do you think that is?

Our Heroic Troops Making Us Proud!

The offensive launched into Marjah, Afghanistan has good intentions. We chase out Taliban fighters, then woo the locals with goodies like farming assistance, running water, and police security. However, the battle plan has some idiocy built into it.

Little known to most people reading this is our war leaders’ decision to create Rules of Engagement (ROE) so difficult to follow that our troops can’t operate.  Those rules currently say that our troops can’t fire on anyone that doesn’t show hostile intent or does not commit a hostile act. What does this mean?

It means our snipers can’t shoot insurgents running across the street unless they shoot at us first. It means that the insurgents can move around on the battlefield without challenge until they fire their weapons. It means, simply, that our politicians and the generals that serve them won’t allow our troops to fight and win.

It appears that we didn’t learn any lessons from Iraq, when our troops were slaughtered from snipers in Mosques that we couldn’t fire upon. It means we haven’t learned the lessons of Viet Nam, where we gave back half the real estate so many boys died to get.

It means that an idiot named Obama has his liberal hands in a war he has no business fighting and we have no chance of winning as long as he is fighting it.

Our President called up 30,000 troops that aren’t allowed to pull the trigger of their rifles. What’s wrong with this picture?

Face of Terror

Iran announced today that it will begin enriching uranium to higher levels that it previously planned.  Bottom line: They are trying to build a bomb.

So what options does our president have? If they bomb Iran, Iran will move to block the Straits of Hormuz, which will halt all oil exports from the region. The world will starve for oil.

If we sit by and do nothing, they will obtain a bomb and probably use it.

So what options do we have?
