I came across an article this weekend about the House Ways and Means Committee questioning the IRS about the agency targeting conservative political groups and their contributors. My first thought was that this is just more Chicago style politics being played by the kids in Washington and is just business as usual. I didn’t think too much about it until I heard a reference to what has happened in the past when an administration took to this unwise strategy when dealing with its opponents. Thank you George Will!
I’m sure that most would have forgotten, or did not know, how when the Nixon administration attempted this, the outcome was an unmitigated disaster. Here is a portion of section 2 of the articles of impeachment Nixon faced; “He has, acting personally and through his subordinates and agents, endeavored to obtain from the Internal Revenue Service, in violation of the constitutional rights of citizens, confidential information contained in income tax returns for purposed not authorized by law, and to cause, in violation of the constitutional rights of citizens, income tax audits or other income tax investigations to be initiated or conducted in a discriminatory manner.” http://watergate.info/impeachment/articles-of-impeachmentIts interesting as to how all this surfaced and the inside information, that I made up that I obtain from an unnamed informant, is that it all started with a mid level manager from the IRS meeting with a group of tax attorneys to discuss upcoming changes in tax law. As I understand it, that meeting concluded with them all going out to dinner and of course that included wine and cocktails being consumed by all attending. Well, this noodle from the IRS should have know how bad an idea it is to consume adult beverages with a group of attorneys who by default were not his friends, but he apparently missed that part and proceeded to throw caution to the wind. Its at this point that one of the attorneys decided to have a little fun with the noodle and asked him the question about the IRS targeting the Tea Party and other conservative groups with audits. The thought was that it would be fun to watch this guy try and tap dance his way around the question and that would be great entertainment for all present to watch. Well the noodle fooled them all and just came right out and admitted that this is exactly what has been going on for the last few years. Ok, can you imagine a group of attorneys with their mouths hanging wide open and not being able to speak? I can’t either!
So, where are we at? The noodle let that proverbial cat out of the bag that the Obama administration has committed an impeachable offense of using the IRS to initiate audits of the people and groups that oppose them. Because of all of this there will be hearings on the matter and we will all just have to wait and see what happens. I fully expect that if this heats up, all of our illustrious politicians, on both sides of the isle, will busy trying to calculate what initiating an impeachment proceedings will do to their all important and encompassing election chances in the next cycle. My pessimism is telling me that the rule of law and the constitution have become secondary to those that are sworn to uphold both with their primary concern being the continuation of their political careers. Anybody want to argue that point? I didn’t think so.

I think we need to change our direction on taxes and spending here in Minnesota. In order to accomplish that end, I have an idea for a new tax bill that I would like to see get passed. My tax bill would be to add an 85% tax on Minnesota senators, house representatives and their staff’s salary and expense payments when any legislative session results in higher taxes and or spending. This would insure that these legislators would pay their fair share. Remember, its would be for the children, elderly, homeless, unemployed, disabled, veterans and the economically disadvantaged.
Now I know that there will be an argument against this proposal because it would dissuade the best and the brightest from running for office. Well that may be possible, but I would like to think it would dissuade those that want to spend and tax this state into bankruptcy. Perhaps we can’t afford the best and the brightest anymore and its time to get more of the average people involved in state government. Maybe the average person, as an elected official, would better serve us because they have been the ones negatively impacted by what all this tax and spending has brought to us. Perhaps they would instinctively know that the state trying to direct peoples’ personal lives is not the best idea around. Its possible that these folks understand that most people want to be left alone to make their own lives and can do so just fine without the help of state government.
Obviously, this is not going to happen as it would have to be passed by the current legislative body, and I doubt that they would give up their power over the citizens of Minnesota. They will willingly raise our taxes, but not theirs. With that being said, I guess this current legislature is not so much for the people, but more likely for them to hold power and to ensure that their career as politician is not threatened. I think it quite likely that this state would be much better served by average folks being elected to office with the intent of it being a temporary adventure in their lives to serve the people as opposed to those who would like it to become a lifelong career.
If you think that I’m suggesting this out of pure jest, you would only be partially correct. I, like most people I know, do not hold career politicians in particularly high regard. Actually, quite the opposite, as I’m certain that career politicians are very adept at knowing and acting on what is best for them in spite of what is best for the citizens they supposedly serve. If the opposite was true, there would not be many career politicians left in our state and federal legislatures.

America needs ten thousand more. America needs thousands of businesses to resist this lawless administration in Washington and stand on the principles of freedom as Hobby Lobby has bravely done. These principles of freedom are enshrined in America’s founding documents, although they are not given to us by those documents. Our freedoms come from God alone, not government, and the fact that our current federal government spits on our God-given freedoms is a gross affront to our nation and its citizens.
By now you have heard of the courageous stand the Christian owners of the national arts and crafts retail chain Hobby Lobby have taken against the clearly unconstitutional “Obamacare” mandate that forces American citizens and businesses to pay for medical policies that cover abortion-inducing drugs. Hobby Lobby’s Christian owners, CEO and founder David Green and his family, have refused to provide their employees insurance policies that cover abortion drugs, so the feds have decided to make an example out of Hobby Lobby by threatening the Greens with fines of 1.3 millions dollars a day for noncompliance. So, with no other recourse, the Greens are suing for their religious freedom.
The Greens are being represented by the Becket Fund for Religious Liberty, yet another precious, non-profit, public-interest legal and educational institute that fights for religious liberty. In a statement from September, David Green declared:
We know that we have been blessed by God’s grace, and we believe it is because we have chosen to live our lives and to operate our business according to His word, and we are very grateful for that.
But now our faith is being challenged by the federal government. The Health and Human Services “preventative services” mandate forces businesses to provide the “morning-after” and the “week-after” pills in our health insurance plans. These abortion-causing drugs go against our faith, and our family is now being forced to choose between following the laws of the land that we love or maintaining the religious beliefs that have made our business successful and have supported our family and thousands of our employees and their families. We simply cannot abandon our religious beliefs to comply with this mandate.
Bravo! If only thousands more businesses would take such a stand! If only millions of Americans would do likewise! Unless we resist this lawless federal government, our freedoms will be crushed. Don’t doubt it for a minute!
They filed their lawsuit in September in U.S. District Court in Oklahoma, where Hobby Lobby headquarters are. In October, the un-American Department of Injustice shot off a 52-page refusal for a preliminary injunction which basically declares that the owners of Hobby Lobby have no religious freedom. The Greens have been wickedly denied preliminary injunctive relief by the Oklahoma District Court, the DOJ, and the leftist, Obama implant on the Supreme Court, Sonia Sotomayor.
What this communist federal government is doing—and currently getting away with—is an unspeakable outrage! The fed’s war on American business and job creators (and our freedoms in general) just keeps getting dirtier by the minute. These lawless commies in the Obama administration (and their lackeys in District Court) will not even allow the Greens to have a break from the evil abortion pill mandate (which they euphemistically call “preventative services”), not to mention the ridiculous, arbitrary 1.3 million-dollar-per-day “penalty,” while the lawsuit is pending. I am wondering how the feds can force the Greens to pay this money—at the point of a gun, perhaps? If I were the Greens, I would tell the feds to stick their contemptible fine in their pipe and smoke it, but I’m certain the Greens are much nicer than I am.
I applaud Hobby Lobby. Tyranny is falling on America, and we need thousands more businesses like Hobby Lobby and hundreds of millions of Americans to RESIST federal (even state and local) tyranny, or we WILL lose our freedoms to this monstrous Obama administration and Congress of crooks, not to mention the anti-constitutional courts across the nation.
It is a terrible day in America when a business owner like David Green must write these words:
We don’t like to go running into court, but we no longer have a choice. We believe people are more important than the bottom line and that honoring God is more important than turning a profit.
My family has lived the American dream. We want to continue growing our company and providing great jobs for thousands of employees, but the government is going to make that much more difficult. The government is forcing us to choose between following our faith and following the law. I say that’s a choice no American – and no American business – should have to make.
Retired Gen. Norman Schwarzkopf, who commanded coalition forces during the Gulf War, died Thursday. He was 78.
After Iraq invaded Kuwait in 1990, Schwarzkopf directed 700,000 coalition troops that engaged in a six-week air assault of Iraqi forces in January 1991. That was followed by a swift ground campaign that pushed Saddam Hussein’s forces out of Kuwait.
Former President George H.W. Bush, who is hospitalized, said the general was a “true American patriot and one of the great military leaders of his generation.”
Rest in peace, General. You were one of the greats.

After the shooting in Newtown Connecticut, I have come to the conclusion that there needs to be some very serious changes to the gun control laws in this country. As any elected fool from Washington would say, some very “broad based” and common sense changes are needed here. These changes need to come quickly so as to protect innocent people from the type of senseless violence that occurred yesterday where 20 innocent children and 6 adults lost their lives. Things are going to have to change in a dramatic way. I have some proposals.
Before I get to the proposals part of this blog, I would like to look at where the fault lies for tragedies like this and the Aurora CO. movie theater shootings as well as all the other mass killing by gun toting nut cases. Well, hang on to your seats sports fans cause I’m about to take a serious right turn here.
The people and groups that are responsible for this tragedy are none other than the anti gun organizations like the Brady Campaign, International Association of Police Chiefs, The Joyce Foundation, CBS, NBC and ABC. Also, one would have to include all the liberal/socialist anti gun nuts within the democratic party. Well for all of you in these groups, the blood of those innocent children and adults is on your hands. Because of what you have done and what you continue to advocate for, innocent people are being murdered and butchered in our streets. You are guilty! Got that, GUILTY! 20 children murdered because of what you have done to the gun laws in this country. And now you want more gun laws which will cause more deaths of innocent people that you pretend to represent. Its time for America to come together and intellectually disarm you the anti gun nuts and re-arm the law abiding citizens everywhere in this country with the weapon of their own choice.
You see, the problem with the intellectual liberal anti’s is that as with most things their logic fails as they can’t seem to grasp the bigger picture or take a thought to its logical conclusion. They believe that all guns should be banned, but the part that they don’t seem to understand is that the criminals and nut cases don’t follow their gun laws. Duh!!! Look at Chicago where there have been 400 gun deaths so far this year while boasting the strictest gun laws in the U.S. Where is the outrage over that? Wake up liberals, the logic is very simple here. More guns, less crime. What is it that you don’t get here? Or, maybe I should ask, why is it that you can’t grasp this concept. But, I have limited time and space, so I will save this for a latter blog.
Now lets get down to my proposed solutions. First, eliminate requirements to obtain a permit before carrying a handgun. If you are citizen 21 years or older with no felony convictions there should be no restrictions. This applies to open carry and concealed carry, but open carry should be promoted. Alaska, Vermont and Arizona currently have no permit requirements. A system of instant background checks should be developed to allow same day purchases of firearms in every state. If you commit a crime of violence with a firearm, you go to prison for a minimum of five years. If you commit a homicide or rape using a firearm, your sentenced to a minimum of life without the possibility of parole.
Gun free zones cannot be eliminated altogether, as this violates the peoples rights to conduct themselves in the manor they choose on their private property. But the laws should be changed so there can be no restriction to carrying a weapon in public places or in businesses that cater to the public. All restrictions to carrying a weapon in state, local and federal offices should be dropped.
Now to the big one. Schools. Not only should there be no restrictions to carrying a gun in a school, it should be promoted and in some instances be required. There should a fund established to facilitate the training of teachers and school administrators on carrying and using a handgun. That fund should also pay bonuses to teachers and administrators who complete the training and verifiably carry at the school they teach in. Also, firearm training and shooting should be a required course in all schools at all grade levels. No exceptions.
The point of this is two fold, first the more people that carry handguns in plain sight make it most difficult for the cowardly criminal. Second, there is no way to stop someone who is mentally ill from attempting to commit mass murder in places like schools or movie theaters. The only thing we as citizens can do is arm ourselves because if more than 50% of the pubic is armed the opportunity for these mass shooting drops dramatically. There would be almost no place where a sick person could go and start shooting with out there being returned fire. Returned fire saves lives every time its used. Conversely, every time there is a shooting with no return fire, the body count is only limited by the amount of ammunition the assailant has and the number of innocent in front of his weapon.
I know that the majority of you who will read this don’t carry a handgun. I have a permit and I carry everyday, where ever I go. The reason I do is that a cop is too heavy to carry and I know that when seconds count, the police are just minutes away. It is a personal responsibility issue. If you take personal responsibility for your safety by choosing to carry a handgun, you by default, provide safety for the public around you. That is a common sense gun rule.
Comments welcome.

The financial crisis:
Increase taxes on the upper income earners until they stop hiring and stop increasing the size of their businesses.
Increase deficit spending that requires the printing money until the currency becomes worthless.
Increase the number of rules and regulations until corporations have no choice but to move jobs off shore.
Mass shootings by the cognitively impaired:
Limit magazines to less than 10 shots.
Outlaw assault weapons so the people being shot won’t be traumatized by the weapons appearance.
Expand the rules on gun registration.
Limit the public’s ability to protect themselves.
Energy costs:
Stop permitting the drilling for energy on public land.
Institute cap and trade.
Give $2 billion to Brazil so they can increase drilling for energy.
Stop the Keystone pipeline.
Now I don’t know what you think about this whole situation, but I believe that we have the wrong group of people running our government. They are truly a special kind of stupid. The only thing worse than what we have is to vote more of the same into office. If history is our guide, then that is exactly what is going to happen. You can’t have self government without self discipline.

“A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed.” Those words, more than any other part of our Nation’s Constitution, have been the most contested. Keeping in mind that this writer is no lawyer, those words really seem simplistic to me. I think they would seem simplistic to Supreme Court Justice Scalia, also. He, of all the members of the Court, seems to have the clearest vision of how to interpret the Constitution…as it was written.
Liberals and self-described scholars seem to have a different view. They believe that the Constitution is a “living document”, one that is fluid and changes with time. Of course, these people only see the changes that benefit them and refuse to open their eyes to those which don’t. A shining example of this is our “press”. The First Amendment says, in part, that “Congress shall make no law….abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press…” This is freely interpreted by the press as a license to lie to their heart’s desire to accomplish whatever agenda the editorial staff has chosen. I’m not sure that’s what the writers of the Constitution had in mind.
Looking at the language of both amendments, they both seem clear. The right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed, and no laws shall be made to abridge the freedom of the press. Simple…to me. But there are those who like to make mountains out of molehills. So, I will try to understand some their arguments here on this page.
Some argue that the Second Amendment was created back when cap and ball muskets were the norm; That the framers couldn’t have anticipated the complex military weaponry available to the masses in this modern era. It’s a good point and deserves some consideration. The only problem is that people arguing this point are the same ones that fail to recognize that the press was a single page letterpress when the Constitution was framed. The framers couldn’t have imagined computers, the internet, podcasts, etc., when they crafted the First Amendment. While the “press” continues to argue for more gun control, noting that the framers couldn’t have anticipated the power of modern weapons to maim and kill, they fail to mention the power of the internet and pod casts to spread their lies and distortions and the damage that can be done to society with such.
I’m willing to compromise. I’m a compromising kind of guy! I’m willing to discuss limits on my firearms if and when the “press” is willing to discuss more liability for those things printed that are not proven to be true. This includes the responsibility to pay for all legal fees for people who challenge…and win…in lawsuits against the “press” for lies and distortions. This includes elimination of the limitations imposed by the definitions of slander and libel. Simple and provable lies, to be determined by a jury, should be punishable in civil court.
I won’t hold my breath on that happening. In the meantime, the “press” and gun control advocates will argue that my right to keep and bear arms CAN and WILL be infringed by laws against open carry, concealed carry, carry in government buildings, bars, schools, sporting events…not to mention restrictions on magazines and round capacity, registration of my weapons, a ban on certain types of weapons, and the requirement that I no longer consider inspection of every area of my life…commonly called a “background check”… as unreasonable search and seizure.
While I am forced to accept all of that for the sake of a false sense of security for the “press”, they continue to degrade our national security by printing classified information, distributing false truths, and supporting political candidates by printing lies and distortions about the challengers of those candidates.
The “press” is currently gearing up for the lies that will encompass the debate on gun control that has been promised by the President. After all, the press is a master of it. The press has coined such terms as “assault weapon” to define any long gun that holds more than 5 rounds of ammunition, “hi capacity clips”, which are magazines that hold more than 10 rounds, and “Saturday night special”, which is…well, I’m not really sure of what that is other than an attempt to label inexpensive handguns to sound sinister. All of these terms will be hammered home by the “press”, as they exercise their free speech in an attempt to suppress my right to bear arms.
Ladies and gentlemen, the tragedy at Newton was committed by a mentally damaged young man who illegally possessed firearms that were illegally taken from his mother, illegally carried those arms onto a school campus, illegally carried those arms concealed, and murdered innocent children. Gun control people will tell you that a total ban on all guns for all people would have prevented this. Would it? Cocaine, heroin, and many other drugs have been contraband for years, yet millions of pounds of these substances enter the country every year. Do you really think banning all guns would stop guns from being acquired by bad guys?
Little by little, piece by piece, your gun rights will be chipped away until you can’t own any. This is the end goal of the liberals and the press. It’s time to turn the tables on them. It’s time to start chipping away at the rights of the “free press”. It’s time for reform of libel and slander laws. Time to shut down the National Enquirer, the Poynter Institute, and other lying liberal rags that are working to erode your rights. It’s time for a serious, damaging, all-encompassing boycott of any company that sponsors, advertises, or otherwise supports any form of gun control or the media that supports it. Sure, you may have to give up your Ben and Jerry’s ice cream or stop watching Matt Damon movies. You’ll have to give up a lot. Your other choice is giving up your Constitutional rights.
Which do you prefer?
The following was written by Gina Miller. Her opinions don’t necessarily reflect those of ScottFactor.com, but because they’re here, they probably do.
God does not change. His Word does not change. No matter how sick and degenerate a society becomes in “celebrating” sinful behavior, sin will always be sin, and unrepentant men will be held accountable to God for their sins against Him. America is in a spiritually dangerous place. Today, sin is defended as “choice” when women choose to kill their pre-born babies, and sinful behavior is lauded as just another alternative lifestyle when homosexuality is paraded as “normal.” This kind of spiritual blindness will only lead to destruction for a nation that embraces sin.
The militant homosexual movement is marching across our land with a fever not seen in our nation’s history. Religious liberty and freedom of speech are being forced to stand down in the face of the homo-fascists who demand their bad behavior be given legitimacy in the public square.
One of the latest battle fronts in the homosexual war against God, morality, truth and the freedoms of the American people is in the area of therapy to help people combat unwanted same-sex attraction. This year,California, a state that is run by hardcore leftists, outlawed homosexual conversion therapy for people under 18. This is an absurd affront to the freedom of parents and their kids to seek help when their teen is struggling with the undesired lure of homosexual sin.
This is also part of a broader effort to redefine the perversion of homosexuality by insisting that homosexuals cannot change, and therapy aimed at helping them escape that dead-end lifestyle is “harmful.” If homosexuals cannot change, then that “must” mean homosexuality is innate, and that is why leftists are so desperate to outlaw and disparage any efforts to help those caught up the sin of homosexuality to be free from it.
The latest assault in this depraved war on our freedoms comes from our detestable buddies at the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC), those fine, furry friends who devote their existence to stamping out God’s presence in our nation, and to obliterating Christian liberty, truth, morality and the American apple pie way of life. This time they have turned their legal cannons on Jews Offering New Alternatives for Healing (JONAH).
On Tuesday, the SPLC filed suit in New Jersey Superior Court claiming that JONAH’s leaders violated New Jersey’s Consumer Fraud Act by claiming to offer a cure for homosexuality with conversion therapy. The SPLC recruited four young men and their parents to be the plaintiffs.
In part, the SPLC claims,
Customers of JONAH’s services typically paid a minimum of $100 for weekly individual counseling sessions and another $60 for group therapy sessions. The lawsuit describes sessions that involved clients undressing in front of a mirror and even a group session where young men were instructed to remove their clothing and stand naked in a circle with the counselor, Downing, who was also undressed. Another session involved a subject attempting to wrestle away two oranges – used to represent testicles – from another individual.
If these claims about JONAH’s methods are true, then it appears the SPLC has done its homework in finding one of the more “unconventional” therapy groups. Yet, this is part of the SPLC’s self-proclaimed campaign to end conversion therapy. This is not about JONAH’s methods, however unusual they may be. Nor is it about consumers being defrauded. It is about the nationwide effort of the Left to create mainstream legitimacy for the sin of homosexuality. In doing so, they must discredit the groups that offer help out of the bondage of homosexuality. They must create an atmosphere of public and legal hostility toward those who insist homosexuality is a sin from which you can indeed be free.
These homosexual militants and their supporters already have the backing of the American Psychological and Psychiatric Associations and other “authorities” on mental “health” that claim homosexual reparative therapies are quackery at best and dangerously abusive at worst.
As if in tandem with the SPLC’s Tuesday lawsuit, on Wednesday a House Democrat loon from California, Jackie Speier, introduced a bill in Washington attacking homosexual conversion therapy. She titled the bill the “Stop Harming Our Kids Resolution,” and in part, it claims,
Expressing the sense of Congress efforts by mental health practitioners to change an individual’s sexual orientation and gender identity or expression are dangerous and harmful and should be prohibited from being practiced on minors.
Whereas being lesbian, gay, bisexual, or gender nonconforming is not a disorder, disease, illness, deficiency, or shortcoming…
It gets worse from there.
These pushers of the homo-fascist agenda are going full-bore in their desperation to convince the world that homosexuality is not the unnatural, unhealthy and immoral behavior that it is. They turn truth upside-down in doing this. They claim that conversion therapy is “harmful” to young people and that homosexuality in all its various manifestations is not the sinful behavior it is and always will be. They viciously attack those who offer help and hope to people struggling with unwanted same-sex attraction.
These people are liars and fully deceived. The truth is that God has commanded us to be free from sin, and He gives us the power to escape it through His Son Jesus with His Holy Spirit living in us. This does not mean that we will not struggle with sin and “slip up” throughout our lives, because we invariably do, but we are no longer slaves to sin, as those without the Lord’s Spirit are. Homosexual sin is a powerful bondage, and getting free of it is almost impossible without God’s help, but there is no sin under the sun that we cannot escape with His aid. There are many former homosexuals who can attest to this fact.
My position on homosexual conversion therapy is about the same as it is on other types of therapy. I know that ultimately it is not man who can change us. Real conversion comes from the Spirit of God working in us when we accept Him. All the therapy in the world will be futile if the person seeking help does not have a true interest in changing, and without God’s help, it is not possible to overcome the chains of sin. While I choose to turn to the Lord rather than therapy for dealing with life’s problems, there are those who do choose the therapy route. This wicked assault on groups that offer therapy to people struggling with unwanted same-sex attraction is just one more nefarious front in the fierce battle for the soul of our nation.
This battle is only going to grow more insane, and the soldiers of sin more tyrannical, as the end of days draws near. Not that we will ever stop fighting, but I do not doubt that we are destined to lose our freedoms to the forces of Hell that are running the show in this world. I believe this because I’ve read the Bible, and I know how the story goes. In the end, the Lord and His people win (because Jesus has already won the war against sin and death at the cross), but until He returns, it’s going to be rough going. Let us continue to stand firmly on the side of truth.
Heavenly Father, we come before you today to ask your forgiveness and to seek your direction and guidance. We know Your Word says, ‘Woe to those who call evil good,’ but that is exactly what we have done. We have lost our spiritual equilibrium and reversed our values. We have exploited the poor and called it the lottery. We have rewarded laziness and called it welfare. We have killed our unborn and called it choice. We have shot abortionists and called it justifiable… We have neglected to discipline our children and called it building self esteem. We have abused power and called it politics. We have coveted our neighbor’s possessions and called it ambition. We have polluted the air with profanity and pornography and called it freedom of expression. We have ridiculed the time-honored values of our forefathers and called it enlightenment. Search us, Oh God, and know our hearts today; cleanse us from sin and set us free. Amen!
